Around here, it's a pretty good-sized creek: Elk Creek. That's the Millseed Mt. in the background. This was taken from the bridge below my house.
People from other states tend to make fun of what we call rivers and creeks. I've seen creeks larger than our rivers and brooks larger than our creeks. People forget that we're at the beginning of the watershed, so naturally there aren't any humongous streams.
What did you say? I can't hear through the racket of the smallmouth and trout jeering. I seem to be having a canoing spasm too. You must stop. Darn, it's pretty, with no sound but wind and water.
Yep, this creek has trout and smallmouths. It even has a few freshwater mussels. Upstream development is threatening the water quality, but we should be able to enjoy it for a few more years. It has been designated an outstanding resource stream.
If you ever come to NC, let me know ahead of time; I'll send info on the good trout streams. You really should't visit without fishing at Stone Mountain State Park. (Yeah, both NC and GA have mountains by the same name. Ours is surrounded by a killer park.)
Heaven have mercy on me! That is so beautiful! Have you ever thought to take pictures from the same spot maybe once each month? I bet that would be cool! :)
I do have a pic of this in the fall of the year. This pic and most of my others are on 35mm and have to scanned into digital. Gotta digital camera now, so there'll be pics in the near future.
