Constant Craving

Hearing that I was planning to attend a k.d. lang concert, a coworker blurted out "She's a lesbian! I'd never listen to a lesbian." Proof that bigots are punished; she's missing out on one of the greatest voices of all time.

This reminds me of an incident involving my late father. I came home one day to find him walking through the house singing "Karma Chameleon" and asked if he'd ever seen Boy George, wondering about his Southern Baptist reaction to George. He shrugged and said, "I like the song. That's all that I care about."

I like this one better

Yes! It's great, too. Her voice is one of the wonders of the world.

I love the Jeff Buckley version, too.

The Jeff Buckley version is actually my favorite.

I agree that her voice is spectacular. She's got one serious set of pipes. I heard her at a club gig before she became a big name, and it was just incredible. So much emotion.

Music transcends every boundary that we silly humans erect.

that's about the saddest thing I ever heard :(
Just thinking of the beautiful music that person is missing out on makes me want to cry...K.D. Lang, Melissa Etheridge, Elton John....not to mention other entertainment like Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donall, and a very large amount of people on stage (Broadway and such).

Have you heard the lang/Etheridge duet on Etheridge's "You Can Sleep While I Drive?"

Nope....am searching now....

wow...that was beautiful...I got goose bumps. I love when music does that to me :)

It's her choice.

The thing is about k.d. lang, I do believe that she naturally has perfect pitch; however, she doesn't do what so many with it do which is let it make their singing soulless. lang can pull every last emotion out of a song and still be perfect.

Nor does she let vocal gymnastics become the focus of a song. Just amazing. Someone with a great voice, emotional power and good musical taste.

If you like those people, then check out some Melissa Ferrick, Indigo Girls, and Ani Difranco. They too are some of my favorites.
