Regulating humidity in the low-tech greenhouse

Our greenhouse doesn't have a misting system. It does have a gravel floor and the flats of plants sit on beds of sand. On days when the air is dry, we wet the sand and gravel. The water evaporates and raises the humidity inside the greenhouse. On very humid days, we open the windows and let the breeze blow through. The greenhouse is placed so that the prevailing winds will blow in one end of the structure and out the other.

i got a greenhouse catalog last week and was drooling over all the neat greenhouse options i cant afford. its only my second year starting seeds under a grow light, so i have yet to expand enough to take advantage of a greenhouse. someday though, someday!

We don't have one of those fancy greenhouses. It's pretty rough-looking, but it gets the job done.

That probably works as well or better for you than some high tech device that will break down at the worst possible time.

that is really kewl...i wish I had a green house....but I would have to put a phone in it because I would be in it all the time :)

Actually, it's nice to be out of touch part of the day! In the old days, cells wouldn't work in the greenhouse. A tower was built a few years back, and we are lucky enough to be in the outer edge of the service area. Still, I never take a cell to the greenhouse. #1-I'd get water in it. #2-I just want to see some peace and quiet.
