This teacher killed a child. Why isn't she in prison? I couldn't believe that she just went to another state and kept on teaching. Notice the article didn't give her name. The guilty get protection. Who protects children from monsters?
There should be a national registry of teachers who have committed abuse or are simply unfit to teach.
This is so sad--why do they let stuff like this happen???
Date: 2009-05-20 01:24 pm (UTC)That people like the child killer are finding and keeping teaching jobs indicates how few special ed teachers there are for the number of jobs that need them.
It also indicates something else: It tells you that the school districts do an outstandingly p--s poor job of monitering/evaluating their teachers in their classrooms.
:(

Date: 2009-05-22 12:25 am (UTC)I think that we should provide funding to properly care for all children. I'm an advocate of paying special ed teachers a very good salary and providing more training.
One problem is the practice of passing along bad teachers. In return for leaving without a fuss, bad teachers get a good job reference. Anyone involved in this practice should serve a jail term.

Date: 2009-05-22 07:56 am (UTC)The problem with that guy is that he was probably just smart enough to keep his mouth shut around the people he worked with. Naturally if he blurted something like that out at work, he wouldn't be working long.
