This teacher killed a child. Why isn't she in prison? I couldn't believe that she just went to another state and kept on teaching. Notice the article didn't give her name. The guilty get protection. Who protects children from monsters?

There should be a national registry of teachers who have committed abuse or are simply unfit to teach.

"In Cedric Napoleon's case, government investigators said the death was ruled a homicide, but a grand jury did not indict the teacher.

A judge found that the teacher used excessive force on the child and was reckless in her actions, the report said."

That passage enraged me. It was a homicide, but the grand jury refused to indict? The teacher used excessive force and was reckless, but received no sentence? This boy's death
was cruel and unusual. Even condemned criminals get better treatment than he did.

Sadly condemned criminals in this country have always recieved better treatment that victims. I think the founding fathers would be horrified to see how our criminal justice system has evolved to grant criminals more and more rights. And thats before we get to the appeals process which really bends over backwards.

I'd love to know just who sat on that jury. Predjudice still exists in this country.

The grand jury behaved as though this disabled child's life had no value.

Like I pointed out, the teacher's name wasn't released so that people wouldn't appear in her yard with pitchforks.

Yeah, I know-there are no words bad enough.

The colleges that trained these special ed teachers need to lose their accredation pending a full investigation into their currculum but the school districts are also at fault. Too many special ed teachers enter the field and then find out the hard way that the school districts are now dumping their mentally disturbed, chronically difficult personalities in with their mentally retarded students simply to get them out of the classrooms where their easier to handle classmates are educated.

That people like the child killer are finding and keeping teaching jobs indicates how few special ed teachers there are for the number of jobs that need them.
It also indicates something else: It tells you that the school districts do an outstandingly p--s poor job of monitering/evaluating their teachers in their classrooms.

I know of one teacher who kept his job after posting on his blog that "some people should raise hogs instead of children, because you can eat the hogs."

I think that we should provide funding to properly care for all children. I'm an advocate of paying special ed teachers a very good salary and providing more training.

One problem is the practice of passing along bad teachers. In return for leaving without a fuss, bad teachers get a good job reference. Anyone involved in this practice should serve a jail term.

That hog-raising advocate is a real asset to the teaching field isn't he? (NOT!)
The problem with that guy is that he was probably just smart enough to keep his mouth shut around the people he worked with. Naturally if he blurted something like that out at work, he wouldn't be working long.
